My dad had an 82 5000, brand new... he said it was pretty unreliable, stuck with his 81 4000 for 16 years instead.

Probably one of the best ones still in regular service. Worth it to the right person, just be prepared to turn a wrench.

I thought it looked familiar, I see the seller is in my backyard. I am certain I have seen it on the road before.

My father-in-law had one of those - the turbo - years ago. It ate a turbo then got totaled out by a dump truck. Ended up replacing it with a first gen Taurus wagon for my MIL....

Love it, though I would prefer it in white or black or red. Also, this is one of the few cases in a craigslist ad of too many goddamn words. Either way, seems very NP, and now I'm looking for quattros in Austin again.

Two things:

First, I drove earlier models of these in Germany when I was stationed there. They’re known as the Audi 100. They have a funky arrangement where the engine/trans are mounted along the axis of the car and the radiator is off to the side, as the front of the engine is right at the grill. There was a VW Quantum that used the same power train as the Audi 100/5000.

Second, I read your comment in another thread last night with (rhymes with) High-low. I’ve made the same comment to her, almost verbatim, and gotten the same response, almost verbatim. The thing is, and your comment shows, that people around here care about her and really don’t want to call her a bee-eye. We want to know what she thinks, but we would prefer not to have our heads slapped in the process. You’ll notice that the people she “legit” wants to engage with are moderators. Whatever. Thank you for helping to keep Oppo excellent.
